CREATING A MORE CONNECTED COMMUNITY FROM THE GROUND UP

In my last Director’s Message, I mentioned that the Town was moving ahead with important amendments to our Zoning Ordinance in the Central Business District.  The amendment will be before the Town Council on March 12th at 7 PM in the Town Council Chambers.  Approval of the ordinance will put the Town in compliance with the requirements of the MBTA Communities Legislation and, more importantly, allow the Town to pursue grant funding for improvements to our water distribution system, wastewater treatment plant upgrades, as well as other infrastructure improvements.

I am also very excited to share that Bridgewater State University recently held the official opening of their state-of-the-art Cyber Security Range.  Beginning in the fall the University will begin offering a degree program in cyber security and digital forensics.  With over 20,000 job vacancies in this field in Massachusetts alone, the program promises to be a catalyst for additional economic development within Bridgewater and the region for both job creation and investment.
